Emergency contacts and support

In an emergency, you should contact emergency services by calling triple zero (000).

If you feel unsafe on campus, you should contact Protective Services on 02 9351 3333, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

If you have been, or think you might have been sexually assaulted, you can contact:

  • Your local sexual assault service such as Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) Hospital Sexual Assault Service on 02 9515 9040 (Monday to Friday) or 02 9515 6111 (after hours). Protective Services can arrange transport to RPA. Other NSW Health Sexual Assault Services can be found here. Counselling and medical services are available for anyone who has been sexually assaulted.
  • NSW Sexual Violence Helpline on 1800 424 017 or online via www.fullstop.org.au (which is available 24/7).
  • 1800Respect - National Sexual assault, domestic and family violence counselling service on 1800 737 732 or online at www.1800respect.org.au, Available 24/7.

Reporting sexual misconduct connected with the University

Sexual misconduct is prohibited at the University of Sydney. Behaviour that is intimidating, abusive, disrespectful or threatening, including sexual assault and sexual harassment, is not acceptable and will not be tolerated.

Using this form you can report a recent or historical incident of sexual misconduct that is connected to the University of Sydney. For example, an incident is connected to the University if it:

  • occurred on University lands or property;
  • occurred at, or in connection with, a Residential College, or University owned or affiliated accommodation;
  • occurred on, or through use of, University ICT resources or other University equipment;
  • occurred at, or in connection with, any University related function or event; or
  • occurred at any event run by or affiliated with University student organisations, clubs or societies.

We cannot investigate reports of incidents that are not connected to the University.

Our aims are to:

  • provide information about the options and support services that are available to you;
  • collect accurate information about incidents of sexual misconduct connected to the University;
  • reduce incidents of sexual misconduct by identifying trends from reports.

University reporting requirements *

In some limited circumstances, the University may need to report an incident of sexual assault to the Police, to ensure your safety, the safety of other members of the University community, or to meet its legal obligations. The University will inform you before it reports an incident of sexual assault to the Police.


Privacy statement

The University will handle your personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy 2017 and Privacy Procedures.

By completing this form you are reporting a recent or historical incident of sexual misconduct that is connected to the University of Sydney.

If you do not provide all the information requested, the University may not be able to adequately respond to your report. The information you voluntarily provide will assist specialist staff at the University to understand your needs and support you, if you wish. If you do not provide your contact details, specialist staff may not be able to provide this support. The information you provide will be stored in the University's record keeping system and, where possible, will be used to investigate and respond to the report, and to provide a support response. It will also be used by the University on a de-identified basis to identify trends and develop targeted responses to sexual misconduct in the University community.
