An Honours year in the School of Life and Environmental Sciences SOLES enhances your career prospects, provides a pathway to PhD study, and allows you to deepen your expertise in a topic of interest. It is increasingly essential for entry-level roles in science and equips graduates with sought-after skills in research, communication, and critical analysis. SOLES Honours graduates pursue careers across government, NGOs, consultancies, agribusiness, pharmaceuticals, and leading institutions such as CSIRO, as well as in conservation, medical, and environmental fields. SOLES is a multidisciplinary school that offers honours across 4 undergraduate degrees and 15 Honours areas available across a wide range of locations - including Camperdown, Camden, Narrabri and also through affiliated research institutes and organisations.

What should I do once I find an Honours project of interest?

  1. Reach out to the primary supervisor via email, phone or in person to introduce yourself and learn more about the project.
  2. Once you have the agreement of your primary supervisor, submit a formal Expression of Interest (EOI).
  3. The project supervisor will consider your expression of interest.
  4. After the project Supervisor has accepted your EOI and agreed to supervise you, submit a formal application to study Honours before the application close date attaching your accepted EOI with your application - you can find out more information on the science honours website.
